In continuation of the World Environment Day Celebrations which commenced on 5th May 2023 the Periyar Tiger Reserve, the Periyar Tiger Conservation Foundation and the Chaitanya Film Society are jointly showcasing the “Green Panorama 2023” an Eco Film Festival at the Bamboo Grove, Thekkady from 7th to 9th June 2023.
The Festival includes interesting sessions as well as screening of films, documentaries and short films with underlying environmental themes.
The “Green Panorama 2023 was officially inaugurated yesterday afternoon i.e., the 7th of June 2023 and the inaugural session was attended by a host of dignitaries and eminent eco personalities. The audience was warmly welcomed by Mr. T. S Xavier (Range Forest Officer, Research Range) and the session was chaired by Shri. Suhaib P J (Assistant Field Director, Periyar Tiger Reserve).
Mr. Pramod P. P IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife Field Director, Periyar Tiger Reserve inaugurated the Festival. The Keynote Speech was delivered by Shri E J Joseph, President of the Darshana Film Society, Kattappana and an eminent Film Critic.
The Much awaited Film Festival was kicked off with an introduction by Mr. Augustine M A, Executive Member of the Chaitanya Film Society. Shri. M. S Vasu, former president of Kumily Gram Panchayath, greeted the audience.
Other dignitaries who were present included eminent Documentary Film Director Mr. Suresh Ilaman, Mr. Basil Jose, President of the Chaitanya Film Society, Mr. T Chandrankutty, Secretary of the Chaitanya Film Society, Mr. K R Ramachandran, Former president of Chaitanya Film Society, eminent poet and play wright Shri. Kanciyar Rajan, Mr. Mathew George, Executive Member of the Chaitanya Film Society and Mr. Ajaygosh N K, the Forest Officer, Vallakadavu Range.

Today the 8th of June 2023 the activities will include an Open Forum which will be moderated by, Mr. Raju K Francis IFS, Director of Eco Tourism and is expected to have discussions with Mr. Suresh Ilaman, Documentary Director, Shri E J Joseph, Film Critic, Mr. Mobin Mohanan, Novelist, Mr. Mathew Sunny K the Novelist, Mr. R Muralidharan, Drama Actor, Secretary of Drama, Idukki, District Adv. V S Deepu, Poetand Dr. S S Abhijith, Executive Member Chaitanya Film Society.
The Official Closing ceremony will be held in the evening on 9th June 2023. Mr. Basil Jose, President, Chaitanya Film Society will welcome the gathering which will be chaired by Mr. Hari Krishnan K V (Deputy Director, Periyar West Division)
The “Green Panorama 2023” is indeed a wonderful opportunity for Kumiliites to know more about the environmental issues which affect our life and learn from them.
