While Kumily has good schools for the kids of the town, not many may know that it also has a small school for the differently abled called “Buds Special School”.
“Buds Special School” at Vellaramkunnu celebrated its Entrance Festival 2023-24 yesterday, the 8th of June 2023 to welcome the new entrants to the school. The School which was founded in 2013 currently has 35 students including the 8 new admissions who were welcomed during the Festival.
The festival though small is of great significance for the efforts taken to integrate the differently abled into the main stream of Society. The new admissions to the school were adorned with golden crowns and given gifts to encourage and motivate them in their academic efforts.
The School’s Admissions Festival was inaugurated by our Kumily Gram Panchayat President Shrimati. Shanthi Sajimon while the function was chaired by Shri. V K Babu Kutty , Vice President of the Kumily Gram Panchayat. Shrimati. Nolly Joseph, Chairperson of the Standing Committee for Welfare Matters of the Kumily Gram Panchayat, welcomed the gathering.
Buds Special School is yet to be recognised and has classes from 1st to 12th Grade. The school is Co-educational and it doesn’t have an attached pre-primary section. The school has been provided a building by the Panchayat from which it currently operates.
In spite of limited infrastructure and facilities the School is doing yeoman service by brining academic education to the differently abled and thus integrating them into the mainstream.
We would be happy if the philanthropists of Kumily support this most deserving school and help it to grow bigger.
