\u201cBlood Roots\u201d, an initiative of a few likeminded individuals of Kumily, was launched one year ago to provide an online system for donating and receiving blood in emergency situations. \u201cBlood Roots\u201d was set up by Kumiliites Sajimon Salim, Subin Varghese, Santhosh Kumar and K L Shyamala who are the driving force behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To celebrate the first Anniversary of their launch, Blood Roots members and over 50 volunteers will be donating blood at the Kottayam Medical College on June 14. Those interested in participating or joining their initiative can also contact them with the details provided at the bottom of this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBlood Roots\u201d is also currently developing an app which will be beneficial for both Donors and patients. One of the organizers, Sajimon Salim informed that \u201calthough initially meant to serve only Idukki district, the mobile app which is being developed will serve the entire State\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kumily Grama Panchayath President Shanthi Shajimon inaugurated the \u201cBlood Roots\u201d initiative last year on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day at Ranger Wood Auditorium, Thekkady. 14th June, is celebrated every year by countries around the world as World Blood Donor Day to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
